Surgical Consultant::RecruitTek
Job description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans, directs, administers and supervises activities for surgical patients. Reports to the Medical Director on matters relating to the operation of the patient care division and maintain contact with the chairman of the department.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1) Ensure implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Surgical Department Policy and Guidelines.
2) Provides inpatient and outpatient consultations to surgical patients as required.
3) Receives referrals and consultations from other disciplines, according to his/her specialty.
4) Utilizes privileges for admission and treatment of patients within his/her specialty.
5) Shares the on call schedule in the department of surgery as required.
6) Ensures continuity of care for patients while on call.
7) Performs all surgical procedures according to the clinical privileges granted to him/her.
8) Provide supervision to the department registrars working in OR, ER and ward.
9) Help in professional development of all staff.
10) Ensure safety of patients and staff.
11) Provide teaching materials as part of the professional development of the staff.
12) Responsible for directing, planning, managing, and coordinating operations for the patient care activities.
13) Responsible for maintaining a working environment that promotes high standards for patient care, customer service, and ethical behavior.
14) Participates regularly with other surgical staff, in decision-making related to patient care.
15) Provides leadership for organizational performance improvement activities.
16) Plans for the provision of orientation, in service and continuing education programs, along with other consultants of the department.
17) Participates in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care needs.
18) Attends regularly scheduled meeting for the improvement of patient care services and delivery.
19) Accepts all other additional assignments found necessary by the Department Chairman through the Medical Director.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education : PhD/Royal College/Fellowship/Membership
Minimum Experience : 10 years experience with minimum 5 years post Fellowship/Membership experience in relevant specialty.
Required Course(s)/Training : BLS trained preferred
Required Certification : Valid License and registration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional prolonged standing/walking. Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment.
